Talking can be all the medicine you need

Many things can lead someone to therapy

There are lots of ways to describe what you’re going through— burnout, stress, anxiety, relationship struggles, anger, trauma, depression, or sexual difficulties. While these labels can help communicate what’s happening, it’s important to remember that everyone’s experience is unique and it’s my job to help you uncover what’s really going on.

At the heart of therapy is taking the time to really understand you—your thoughts, feelings, emotions and relationships. Often, several issues overlap, and that’s okay. Therapy is about making sense of it all , understanding how you got here, and how to work through whatever issues that may be relevant to you.

Sometimes it might be important for us to look at your past experiences to understand what’s going on now, whatever it might be, it’s my job to support you in creating a clear intention for therapy that can help you on your way to fulfillment.

If you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We can chat about your specific situation and see how I might be able to help.

Below are some frequently asked questions that might help you decide if therapy is right for you.

What is therapy with me like?

Talk therapy offers you a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. This is your opportunity to reflect, learn, heal, and grow in a supportive environment.

As your therapist, my role is to guide you through this process. You can talk about anything that’s on your mind—this is your time and space.

There are many reasons why someone might want to come to therapy and we can explore how these might affect you together. Some of the struggle might include, burnout (and when to recognise it), anxiety, stress, relationships, self-confidence, grief, work challenges, feelings of depression, mental health concerns, sexual issues, and more. During the session I will listen and reflect back what I hear.

How will the first session work?

The first session is all about getting to know each other and making sure therapy feels like a good fit for you. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to here, explore your current concerns, and maybe talk about some history to help build me a picture of what’s going on for you. This is also your chance to ask any questions about therapy—or about me—so you can feel confident moving forward.

We’ll also go over our agreement, which covers important things like boundaries, confidentiality, fees, and how we’ll work together.

Once that’s all in place, we’ll begin exploring the issues that matter most to you. We’ll regularly check in to make sure our sessions are helping you in the way you need them to.

How will therapy help you?

The counselling process is all about creating the right environment for you to feel supported and understood. My role is to provide the kind of relationship that helps you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at a pace that feels right for you. This space is yours, and it’s tailored to your needs.

Counselling can be a powerful way to work through what’s happening in your life right now. Sometimes, it’s about making sense of the past or recognising patterns that no longer serve you to be able to focus on the present and navigate challenges, build resilience, and find a way forward.

The intention is to help you feel more empowered to move toward the future you want, with greater self-awareness and clarity.
